The bizarre reason why Young Boys believe they can beat Manchester United

Young Boys captain Steve Von Bergen believes they have a chance against Manchester United because they both "p*** first thing" in the morning

SWISS minnows Young Boys believe they have a fighting chance against Manchester United because their big-name opponents are only human and take a "p*** first thing in the morning" just like them.

The Bern club host Jose Mourinho's men in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Skipper Steve Von Bergen, 35, insisted: "They have plenty of quality, but their players are no different to ours.

"They too go for a p*ss first thing when they get up in the morning.

"We have to put fear, complexes and awe to one side when we play Manchester United.

"We have been discussing the scenario of what happens if we take the lead against them."

Young Boys won the Super League in May to end a 32-year drought and have never gone this far in European football.

Defender Von Bergen played against Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez for Palermo and saw Romelu Lukaku score a hat-trick for Everton against Bern in 2015.

Striker Christian Fassnacht said: "It will be special to see players of United's calibre on Wednesday when we go into the dressing-rooms.

"But we have nothing to lose - and we expect to get points in our home matches.

"Motivation is not a problem for us."

Keeper David von Ballmoos added: "There is no point in us casting aside everything that has taken us this far, just because we are playing in the Champions League.

"We haven't come this far just to rest on our laurels. We could have more to offer than people think."

Solskjaer wants Man Utd to run Barcelona into the ground to secure shock win

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make sure his Man Utd players are fighting fit when they taken on Barcelona in the Nou Camp second leg

IT is survival of the fittest.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, getting set for his biggest game as Manchester United manager, promised to run his players into the ground at the Nou Camp.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make sure his Man Utd players are fighting fit when they taken on Barcelona in the Nou Camp second leg

He knows Barcelona will have the ball for long periods, wearing Solskjaers side down with their possession obsession.

United, fit as butchers dogs when Alex Ferguson was in charge, will rely on some classic characteristics to unseat Barca.

There will be blood, sweat and tears out there, just the way English teams like it, as United try to pull off another extraordinary comeback.

The Norwegian boss said: I expect my players to be ready because this is the Nou Camp and they will run until the cramp stops them.

We are still in the tie. We are physically taller than them, we are bigger than them but we need to get forward.

We didnt stamp our authority on the game in the first leg and we didnt create enough chances.

Barcelona can have 80-85 per cent possession but we still have to perform. Its in the DNA of their players to want to control the ball but we have to come here and expect to work hard.

We gave them too much time on the ball in the first leg.

For United to retrieve this, to evoke memories of their victory over Juventus in the group phase or the stunning win over Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16, will be remarkable.

It means Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford will have to put in the mother of all shifts.

'MILLION-DOLLAR QUESTION'

Solskjaer believes in them but the more times you say Ashley Young, Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling, the more you fear for them.

This is not a Champions League semi-final back four.

Somehow they have made it to a quarter-final, stepping out for this second leg because of their improbable comeback against PSG in the previous round.

Solskjaer added: The memory of PSG will help the players, it will help us as a team and convince us we can turn things around.

Barca at the Nou Camp is a different prospect but the memory of that night against PSG will live with the players. It is not that long ago.

The way to score goals is the million-dollar question in football and that is why the best strikers are the most expensive.

We have practised our finishing but when you dont work the keeper, you dont score. We know we have a goal threat and we can create but it is about taking chances.

At Old Trafford last week, in a miserable 1-0 first-leg defeat, they failed to get a shot on goal for the first time since 2005.

If that had been say, oh, Jose Mourinho overseeing that statistic, he would have been buried alive with all his trophies. This is Solskjaers gig now, still working out a way to get the best out of an ordinary group.

Fergie squeezed the pips out of his players, pushing them to lift a ton of silverware down the years.

Solskjaer was there for some of it, famously netting the winner in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich in this stadium.

He knows fate will do him no favours tonight, especially against Lionel Messi and friends.

The Argentine returns, recovering in the nick of time from his collision with Smalling at Old Trafford.

He was absent, along with the rest of the starters, for their 0-0 draw at Huesca on Saturday. United will have to subdue him good luck with that. Their best chance is a goal on the break, to create doubt in Barca minds by drawing level on aggregate.

Solskjaer added: We scored against PSG after two minutes and that was a big factor. It changed our mentality.

It will be the same for us against Barcelona because if we get the first goal it will be so important.

There are many different factors. Against Juventus, it was Juan Matas goal from a free-kick that made the difference.

When we beat Tottenham away it was down to the keeper. We have to have the right approach, mentally, tactically and physically.

If United do that, they will be up and running.

Barcelona in mourning as press declare biggest embarrassment in history after incredible Liverpool comeback

Sport mourns Barca's loss with the headline 'biggest embarrassment in history'

LIVERPOOL stunned the world of football after overturning a 3-0 first leg defeat to Barcelona to reach the Champions League final.

Divock Origi and Georgino Wijnaldum scored twice apiece as the Reds secured a stunning 4-0 victory against the Spanish champs.

Marca was scathing of its assessment of Barcelona's inept showing at Anfield

The magical night at Anfield has understandably made the headlines across the world.

And Barca's pain has been heightened by deservedly scathing assessments in their homeland.

Spanish newspaper Sport described their elimination as the "biggest embarrassment in history" and that it was the Catalans' "darkest day".

It goes on to label them tumbling out of Europe's elite competition as "unforgiving".

BARCELONA BLOODBATH

Marca went with "historic failure" whileMundo describes Barcelona as "soulless", and that the 4-0 defeat is a "death knell" for the team.

The paper also described conceding when Origi cleverly flicked home Trent Alexander-Arnold's quick corner as "ridiculous".

AS labelled it as a "Barcelona bloodbath", while A Bola decided to be complimentary to the victors and the "miracle of Anfield.

And other European newspapers followed that same line.

French newspaper L'Equipe, known for their critical lines, focused on "Bonkers Reds" and not how terrible Barcelona were.

HISTORY REPEATS FOR BARCA

And in Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport called Jurgen Klopp's troops "crazy Liverpool" while pointing out that "Messi is at home".

Tuttosport called the Premier League side "legendary".

Ernesto Valverde's side went into the tie with a comfortable three-goal lead butunbelievably crashed out.

The incredible scenes mirror last season's quarter-finals where the Catalans were toppled after a 3-0 defeat to Roma, having won the first leg 4-1.

Liverpool were all-but out following Lionel Messi's masterclass at the Nou Camp.

But Origi gave the Reds some hope with an early strike before Wijnaldum's quickfire double levelled the tie.

Incredibly, Klopp's side weren't done and Origi added his second from a clever corner to send the hosts through to the final.

PAUL POGBA looked glum as he returned from Seville after being dropped by Jose Mourinho.

The under-fire Manchester United midfielder only played against the La Liga side due to an injury Ander Herrera picked up 17 minutes into the clash.

Mourinho praised him for his performance but Pogba, 24, still appeared down in the dumps as he arrived at Manchester airport early this morning.

Though perhaps it is the lack of sleep which is bugging the France international.

Pogba was escorted by security outside the terminal wearing his full United tracksuit, personalised "PP" trainers and a hat.

The rest of the squad looked shattered and while Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera posed for pictures and sign autographs, Alexis Sanchez appeared too sleepy to do so.

Mourinho's men managed a 0-0 draw in Spain, meaning it is all to play for in next month's second leg at Old Trafford.

David De Gea was the hero on the night as the Red Devils finished the happier of the two sides.

Though fuming Mourinho hit out at his own medical staff after a team selection blunder.

The Portuguese boss had been told Herrera, 28, was fit to play after missing the last three games.

But he limped off after 17 minutes, giving Pogba an unexpected early chance to get back into Mourinho's good books.

Mourinho said of Herrera's condition: "I think it is a bad injury. He had a small injury that stopped him playing in the last couple of matches, but the medical department made him 100 per cent ready for last Saturday.

"We didn't play him to give more work and more protection, but it looks like he wasn't fully fit.

"The medical department made him fully fit. He trained and he looked fit.

"The way he was playing he showed that intensity that is only possible when you are fit.

"He was pressing really high, we were not giving one inch to them. Then the backheel created the contraction in the muscular area and now we have proof he was not 100 per cent fit."

Manchester United stars test touch on Teqball table as they relax ahead of Juventus clash

Man Utd players enjoyed a game of Teqball before playing Juventus

MANCHESTER UNITED players warm up for their Champions League clash with Juventus by playing a game of Teqball.

Its the latest craze sweeping across the football world, with the likes of Lionel Messi and Brazils national side enjoying the fun game.

Teqball almost works like a game of table tennis, except players must use their head and feet to knock a football over the net.

Chelsea stars including new arrivals Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic have been regularly snapped playing this season.

And it seems Manchester United have caught the bug after drawing with the Blues 2-2 on Saturday.

The club uploaded a clip to Twitter showing Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic playing a game in the sunshine at Carrington.

The stars showed off an array of skills as they kept the ball in play.

And they will need to summon every ounce of talent to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at bay when Juve visit Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The Portuguese superstar was mobbed when he touched down at Manchester airport.

And he will be hoping to lead Juve to victory against his former side tomorrow night, despite being fondly remembered for three Premier League title wins and a Champions League trophy to boot.

Arsenal will boost transfer kitty by at least 50m if they beat Chelsea in the Europa League final

Watch free The Goldfinch 2019 Online

Arsenal play Chelsea in the final of the Europa League after beating Valencia in the semi-final over two legs

ARSENAL are playing for a staggering 50m-plus when they meet Chelsea in the Europa League final.

The May 29 clash in Baku is the Gunners last chance to get back into the Champions League after a two-year absence.

Unai Emery could be in for a cash injection of over 50million if they reach the Champions League group stagesCredit: AFP or licensors

But the real reward is not the silver trophy on offer in Baku, but the golden financial inheritance in guarantees.

Arsenals run to the final has earned them 31.43m in TV and prize money, which will rise to 34.9m if they beat Chelsea.

Yet merely qualifying for the Champions League will be worth 38.25m next season, BEFORE they even kick a ball in the competition.

Uefa now distribute 508m of their revenues to the 32 group phase teams according to the 10-year historical rankings, which gives extra bonus points for previous victories in European club competitions.

An Arsenal win in Baku will see them jump into eighth place in the 10-year rankings.

But without Manchester United in the Champions League, the Gunners will move up to seventh place and receive 25.01m as their share.

MARKET SHARE

They also will earn 13.24m as a qualifying bonus.

And while Arsenal would not take an initial share of the 28.9m English TV market pool, they would be entitled to a proportion of the second tranche of the same sum, divided between the English sides as a percentage of the games they play over the course of the competition.

That is just the starters for Unai Emery.

Uefa give bonuses of 2.34m for each group stage win, with draws worth 781,000.

But the big bucks then really kick in.

Reaching the last 16 is worth 8.25m, with the quarter-finals adding another 9.11m.

Spurs and Liverpool then bagged a further 10.41m for reaching the semi-finals, with their remarkable comebacks earning both of them a minimum 13.02m.

Next months winners in Madrid will take 16.49m.

To underline the comparison, while Arsenal have so far made 64.22m from two seasons in the Europa League, North London rivals Spurs have banked 88.5m from this campaign alone.

And there is a further carrot in the shape of Fifas planned 2021 expanded Club World Cup.

While the precise entry criteria have yet to be confirmed, one plan is for the winners of the two major European club competitions for 2019, 2020 and 2021 to be given automatic entry to a tournament which could be worth more than 30m to each club.

Arsenal are set to appoint Francis Cagigao as head of recruitment
